ABOUT THE CLUB

The Columbus Kennel Club was formed in 1945. Over the years, members have come and gone, but the goals of the club have remained the same:

  • To further the advancement of purebred dogs
  • To do all in its power to promote, protect and advance the interest of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike conduct at all AKC sanctioned events
  • To conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, obedience trials, and agility trials under the rules and regulations of the AKC
  • To disseminate knowledge, conduct classes in, and promote the training of purebred dogs
  • To educate the public about responsible dog ownership
  • To encourage the training of judges
  • To conduct classes for the training of dogs and their handlers

The Columbus Kennel Club is a non-profit organization guided by its membership, elected officers and Board of Directors.

The Club holds its annual show in May, in conjunction with the Crossroads of Georgia Cluster in Perry, Georgia.  Additionally, various events are held throughout the year to encourage people to get involved in the sport of purebred dogs.
